The EDGE Corps is an initiative committed to training and developing young leaders by teaming them on campuses throughout the country. They reach out with love of Christ to students who are spiritually hungry and looking for answers to life's questions. These recent college graduates set aside one to two years of their lives to be meaningfully involved in the lives of students on campus. In return, working with seasoned Navigator leaders, they receive training and experience that will impact them and others for a lifetime. Who are the Navigators? The Navigators is an interdenominational, non-profit organization dedicated to helping people navigate spiritually. For more than 65 years, we have helped people to know Christ and make Him known. The Navigators international headquarters is located in Colorado Springs. For more information on The Navigator, click here. What about financial integrity? The Navigators is a charter member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability, an organization which exists to ensure the financial integrity of Christian ministries. Audited financial statements are available on request. Why the EDGE Corps? College is a critical time, and this generation of students faces more moral, ethical and spiritual decisions than any generation before it. As they wrestle with family breakdown, hopelessness and moral drift, students are in the midst of making major life decisions. Through the EDGE Corps young men and women have the opportunity to make a difference in their world. How will my son or daughter be developed? EDGErs receive valuable leadership training. The program involves taking initiative, creative thinking and problem solving as well as considerable people skills. These are many of the skills potential employers will be looking for. Sample Resume The following is an example of what your son or daughter may put on his or her resume at the end of the year with EDGE Corps:
The Navigators, EDGE Corps
Campus ministry focused on leadership & personal development in the lives of students. -Initiated development and training programs for students. -Effectively identified and developed potential student leaders. -Raised over $25,000 for personal budget. -Traveled to Norway with a team for a five-week project to train student leaders. -Counseled and mentored students in decision-making and character issues.
Because The Navigators is a non-profit organization, all EDGErs are responsible for raising their annual budgets through the donations of friends, churches and businesses. They will receive thorough and practical training in fund-raising. Because of the initiative needed and responsibility taken, the skills learned in fund-raising are some of the most helpful for the future. How long is the commitment? Training begins in May or June in Colorado Springs. The remainder of the summer is used for fund-raising. The EDGErs then arrive on their target campus one to two weeks before the fall semester begins. The first year ends after a cross-cultural experience. Participants can extend their training for a second year, and in many cases they can transition into long-term service with The Navigators. Where will my son or daughter be located? Each EDGEr is placed on a college campus with veteran Navigator staff who will mentor and train them. We take into account personality, preferences, availability and team dynamics when placing teams together. EDGE campuses are located all across the U.S. Click here for locations. What other parents have said "The EDGE Corps was a positive experience for Joe. It was a time for him to be out on his own, to experience another part of the country, both geographically and culturally. It was a time for him to firm up his direction for the future and he had a ball doing it. In a few years, if the situation is right for our daughter and she desires to be a part of the EDGE Corps, we would be very positive about the idea." --Lee Maschhoff, father of EDGEr "When I see what Laura has accomplished in her short time with the EDGE Corps, the difference she has made in what's really important, all my years in business aren't as impressive. We are very proud of her." --Carl Montgomery, father of EDGEr Contact Us Please contact us regarding further questions you may have about the EDGE Corps.
