Frequently Asked Questions

What will I do on campus?

You will primarily be serving your Campus Trainer in accomplishing their vision for advancing the Gospel of Jesus on the campus. Leading Bible studies, building relationships with students, and being involved in evangelism and discipleship are all part of the EDGE experience.

How long is my commitment?

The EDGE Corps is a minimum one-year opportunity, which can be extended to a second year. The majority of EDGE Corps staff choose to serve a second year, and many have begun a career with The Navigators through EDGE Corps. The adventure begins in early summer with orientation and training, then fundraising throughout the summer. The commitment ends after your summer missions experience and training summit the following year. After your first year on the EDGE, you'll be part of a summer missions experience in another country or as a team leader at one of our Summer Training Programs for students here in the U.S. For an annual schedule of EDGE Corps, click here.

Where will I be serving?

EDGE Corps teams are assigned to campuses around the country based on the strategic needs of the campus and region. Every effort is made to match EDGE Corps candidates with a campus team that best complements their talents, experience, personality and spiritual gifts. In some cases, pre-placement arrangements are made, but the majority of EDGE Corps staff receive their ministry assignment during the first training summit.

What about training?

The EDGE Corps has three training summits throughout the course of the first year, and an additional two training summits the second year. These week-long summits consist of workshops led by veteran Navigator staff, as well as Bible Studies and discussion times. The main thrust of the EDGE Corps training comes through experiential learning during your time on campus with your campus team.

What about the money?

At your first EDGE orientation, you will receive training to help you raise personal support, which includes: salary, benefits (life and health insurance), ministry and training expenses, and the costs of an overseas missions trip. We are committed to helping you raise the finances necessary to be on campus ministering to students. Our aim is to keep budgets as low as possible. Most EDGEr's have their housing provided during the 1st year by their Campus Director.

How do I apply?

The application process is an important part of the EDGE Corps experience. Throughout the process we spend much time in prayer, asking God that He would lead both us and you regarding your future. We are concerned not only about discerning if God would have you be a part of the EDGE, but also about helping you, in any way that we can, discern what God's plan for your future may be.
