Leading HQ II

Leading HighQuest II is similar to HighQuest I. The basic skill of an AWG is maintained during this unit. If the Forum members have done HQ I, then a quick review of an AWG should suffice. If you have new members in your Forum that have not done HQ I, you will need to either take time in the start up sessions of your Forum to explain an AWG or meet individually with the new members at another time. If your forum is a continuation from HQ I, then you only need an initial session to explain the new material for this unit.

HighQuest II Life Skill
This unit introduces the skill of meditation and memorization. We refer to this as getting a grip on Scripture. There are 5 verses to memorize during the basic 10 weeks. One topic covers 2 weeks during which you memorize one verse. Instructions for meditation and memorization are included in the book.
There are two parts to the meditation which are done over two weeks. The meditation form comes at day 5 in the AWG list. Rather than doing another passage for your AWG, you will use the meditation form for the verse you are memorizing. The passages selected for the AWGs relate to the verse being memorized.
Verse cards are included in the back of the unit. If a different translation is desired, the verses can be written out on a 3x5 card. The leader of the Forum will need to allow time each week to review the verses being memorized. You must spend time reviewing each week to help the men learn a new skill.
Check the Map is continued from HQ I. This is the place to summarize what you are learning from the week so you can share it clearly. An application is listed here rather than at the end of the meditation forms although if you were doing the meditation independently, you would want to include an application

HighQuest II Life Issue
The life issues in HQ II deal with 4 character traits that reflect Christ like character. These 4 are common issues with men and should be a catalyst to studying others.

Leading the HQ II Forum
It is suggested that when leading a HQ II Forum, you continue to use the four questions from HQ I. These are listed again on the Discussion Form at the end of each session. However, you may need to adjust your time frame to include reviewing verses. As you progress in your HQ II sessions, you will be reviewing more verses. Be creative in how you do this to keep up the momentum and accountability.
We suggest you start the "Exploration" with the meditation form for the Scripture memory verse. You will want to emphasize the meditation piece since it is the new life skill. It will take some effort to learn how to meditate by design so don't be discouraged if success comes slowly. Give each man a chance to share what they have written.
